Raw Trail Mix

Raw Protein, Raw Snacks

What kind of raw food is ideal for traveling? This yummy trail mix is a super great start! I’m heading out in the morning on my first trip over seas!  It’s a missions trip to Europe with my church, and we’ll be doing some construction work, sports, arts/crafts, singing and other outdoor activities. It’s going to be so exciting! But also exhausting… so at first I was at a loss as to what kind of raw food would fill me up quick, give me energy, but also taste really good.  I’d say raw trail mix is the perfect match.

Every ingredient in this mix is a super food in itself. By snacking on a nutritious combination of dried fruits and nuts (more so than than by eating any one item alone), we can effectively build up our health.

The original trail mix was created by nomads  from ages past. They were professionals at making easy-to-transport , high-energy snacks that could endure all kinds of weather and did not need to be cooked. These foods provided tremendous health benefits. Unfortunately, the trail mixes you frequently see these days are either boring or very, very unhealthy. It’s time to put some life back into the legend and start enjoying these antioxidant-full and nutrient-rich combinations! They are fantastic fuel for a boost of energy throughout an active day, or for your own modern-day nomadic adventure.

Here’s my favorite mix:

Raw Trail Mix

Raisins (gold or red)
Almonds
Dried Cranberries
Walnuts
Peanuts
Carob Chips

Don’t be afraid to try your hand at inventing a new treat using your favorite dried fruits, nuts and seeds. There’s no limit to the flavors and textures you can invent! Just make sure each ingredient is dried without sulfur or sugar. Happy adventures friend!

I believe that avoiding packaged foods would be the first step to lose weight. They will taste good, but processed foods have very little nutritional value, making you take more just to have enough electricity to get with the day. When you are constantly eating these foods, changing to cereals and other complex carbohydrates will make you to have more vigor while feeding on less. Great blog post.
